Join us for a FREE evening of stories, poetry and more, focusing on cinema, film and other forms of moving image. Our seasoned writers will share work across genres, so expect a spectrum of romance, darkness, humour and the frankly bizarre. Newbie or professional practitioner, if you have something on theme you'd like to read, four-minute slots will be available on the night. All are welcome!

We've been hosting free spoken word events in and around Portsmouth for nine years now, including online during COVID. We have regular performers, returners and welcome new faces, whether they be seasoned writers or absolute newbies. Of one thing you can be sure, we are a friendly bunch who collect toether from all walks of life and all forms of writing. Not sure if we're for you? There's only one way to find out.
The event is FREE: all we ask is that you buy something from the bar, in respect of our generous hosts who allow us to use their fab back room.
Our themed spoken word events at other times of the year are run, more or less, bi-monthly.
Writing can be an isolating affair. We run workshops, too, with professional writers in our midst happy to give advice on any aspect of the industry -- self-publishing and otherwise. Come on in from the cold -- you'll be made most welcome.
