Saturday 10th October 2026: Zine-making workshops with November Tan

As part of our Portsmouth 100 festivities and ahead of our "Your Museum, Your Stories, Your City" exhibition (opening in October 20206), join us for a monthly Saturday morning filled with fascinating facts, stories and anecdotes about our city’s iconic or hidden landmarks. Then let your creativity flow through collage, sketching, drawing, storytelling or photography with a local artist—each venue offering its own unique art form. Explore, imagine and celebrate Portsmouth 100 in the most inspiring way!

On Saturday 12th October 2026, join artist and PhD student November Tan for a zine-making workshop, celebrating the architectural and social history of Central Library.

After an introduction to the past and present history of Central Library, we will explore some of the building’s hidden spaces through a multi-sensorial walk (did you know there’s a balcony with wonderful views across Guildhall Square?) and get creative by making your own zine with a variety of medium from the experience.

Open to anyone aged 16+. No experience required — just bring curiosity and stories!

Note: Through collecting memories and stories from participants, this workshop can contibute to November's PhD researcher in Architecture at the University of Portsmouth. Her work forms part of an AHRC-funded collaborative doctoral partnership with the Portsmouth City Council. This focuses on the architectural history of the Portsmouth Central Library, as well as participatory heritage and design.

Attending this workshop does not entitle participants to take part in November’s study. Participation is voluntary, and participants are free to withdraw at any time. Thank you!
