People across Preston are helping our city move more. This funded two-Saturday workshop helps us connect & collaborate to make change happen
The workshops
We recognise that people across Preston are working hard to support their communities to get more active. The goal of this workshop is to help us do it together.
System Thinking, sometimes called system leadership, simply means helping people and organisations work together on things one person or group can't do alone. If you're reading this - you're probably already doing it.
And in true collaboration-style, we're working with Preston Muslim Forum to promote the workshop and make sure we reach people across Preston's communities.
It's free (supported by Sport England), it's two days and you don't need any prior knowledge.
Day one (Saturday 10 October, 9:30 - 4pm) focuses on understanding the system you're part of - how Preston works, where complexity shows up, and what system thinking actually means in practice.
Day two (Saturday 17 October, 9:30 - 4pm) shifts to application - building shared purpose, mapping relationships and influence, seeing where you can make a difference.
We're running these on Saturdays as people with weekday commitments asked us to.
Preetham's story - click on the video below to hear about the impact the workshops had on Preetham Joseph.
Who should come?
Our programme is designed for people in Preston whose work brings them into contact with different organisations, communities and sectors.
You don't need a particular job title - you need to be the kind of person who's already trying to work differently - and trying to collaborate more and trying to create change that helps people get more active.
Why you should come
You will leave with a clear idea of how Preston works, a practical way of seeing where your own efforts can make a difference, a room full of new contacts - and a calendar of activities to join afterwards.
The practicalities
Our lunch is vegan-friendly and our venue is accessible and welcoming. Please advise of any other dietary requirements and of any accessibility needs. We want everybody to be welcome.
