About This Event

On the second Wednesday of the month, get closer to The Harris collection with one of our Curators. To coincide with our Horrockses Fashions exhibition , glimpse at the design process with Decorative Art Curator, Scott Schiavone and discover the remarkable Horrockses Fashions design archive. Explore rarely displayed design books and sample sheets that reveal how Britain’s most stylish ready-to-wear dresses evolved from pencil sketch to finished garment. Featuring original fashion illustrations, fabric swatches, production notes and publicity photographs, these extraordinary working documents offer a unique glimpse into the creative heart of Horrockses Fashions. Learn how designers, textile artists and manufacturers worked together to create the iconic prints and silhouettes that defined 1950s British fashion. Location in the building: Special Collection Gallery.
