Winter can look like a quiet time in nature, but there is still an extraordinary amount happening once we begin to look closely.

WINTER MUSHROOMS | SUNNYHURST PARK

There’s far more happening in our woodlands during winter than we might think.

Join us on 20 December, 1–3pm for a seasonal walk through Sunnyhurst Park exploring the fascinating world of winter fungi.

We’ll discover fungi that can still be found during the colder months, explore their relationships with trees and the wider woodland ecosystem, learn about responsible foraging, and uncover some of their traditional uses and stories.

With the walk taking place close to the winter solstice, we’ll also explore what winter really means in nature. What appears dormant, what is still working unseen, and how people traditionally stayed connected to the land through the darkest part of the year.
