Take a relaxing walk around Dinton Country Pastures Park, on the banks of the Loddon with the Catchment Officer Josh. Join us: The River Loddon is one of England's rare chalk streams, a rare, precious, wildlife-rich habitat. As part of Loddon Rivers Week 2026, South East Rivers Trust is working alongside partners to put on a variety of different events to showcase the Loddon, and take part in positive action. What you'll do: Walk the Loddon and learn to understand the landscape. Discuss the river, the pressures it faces and what is being done in your area. An opportunity to take part in our amateur photo competition! No previous experience or nature knowledge required, just curiosity :) What you need to know 🕒 When: Monday, September 21st 10am - 2pm 📍Where to meet: Dinton Pastures Country Park, Davis St, Hurst, Wokingham RG10 0TH Google Maps HERE 👉 Booking is essential so we can plan sessions. ⏰ Booking closes at 12:00pm, September 18th. This event is for everybody! What do you need to bring? Water bottle (filled up!) Cosy, weather appropriate clothing Wear comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty/inky A packed lunch Accessibility: Activities may take us off-paths and working on the ground. Some areas may be muddy and uneven (depending on the weather). If you have any questions about access or physical requirements, please get in touch before the event. Nervous about coming alone? Please email us at volunteering@southeastriverstrust.org Josh B will be hosting this event. Josh is a Catchment Officer at South East Rivers Trust who’s work focuses on the Loddon. Josh has always been interested in nature and started scuba diving with his dad from an early age. This led to a love of water and completing degrees in Marine Biology and Coastal & Marine Resource Management. After university Josh volunteered for the Colne Valley Regional Park as a River Ranger which kick started his interest in freshwater. His volunteering led to a job as a River Officer before he moved onto the Surrey Wildlife Trust. Josh joined SERT as a Catchment Officer for the Loddon, Cuckmere & Pevensey Levels catchments in our Science & Partnerships team, When he’s not working he is usually hiking, running ultra marathons or playing rugby.
