The 'I Want to Move! Movement Improvisation Workshop' is scheduled for 6 March 2027 at Braziers Park. Participants will engage in movement improvisation in both indoor and outdoor settings. Ticket prices range from £49.46 to £71.13.
Join us for a one-day movement improvisation workshop, working both inside and outside in the beautiful setting of Braziers Park.
About the event:
Join us for a one-day movement improvisation workshop, working both inside and outside in the beautiful setting of Braziers Park, facilitated by performer and artist Alice Gale-Feeny.
Explore the possibilities of improvisation as a creative tool and develop confidence in stepping into the unknown. Practise fine-tuning your attention, cultivating awareness of sensation, and improvising in changing environments, without the need for a plan.
You will be supported to record what you learn through moving and to reflect on how each facilitated task unlocks new information that can fuel a creative process.
You will be supported to broaden your awareness of your own process and embed this awareness into your learning, leaving with tools to guide you beyond the workshop.
You do not need to know how to dance or be able to follow choreography. Movement improvisation offers a different possibility and creative framework, guided in part by your body, your ways of moving, and creative impulses that emerge through the process of moving. This is about learning how you may want to move and how different environments may creatively stimulate new ideas, as well as exploring the empowering potential that comes from reflecting on your particular process.
You will be supported by the interesting and unique environment of Braziers Park, the collective energy of the group, and a practitioner with over 12 years of experience in improvisation and performance.
About the facilitator:
Alice is an artist, performer and facilitator with 12 years of experience working with improvisation. She has used improvisation as a tool to develop performances that have been presented across the UK in art galleries, museums, libraries and cabaret nights, including the People’s History Museum, Manchester (2026); Goldsmiths CCA (2025); and the Women’s Art Library, London (2025). She has worked solo, collaboratively and site-responsively over this time, and brings these experiences into her approach to the workshop.
Alice has worked as a Senior Lecturer at Kingston School of Art, and previously at Nottingham Trent University, where she taught improvisation and performance over a 10-year period. She completed a BA in Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University (2009–12). She was awarded a Gill Clarke Bursary and Leverhulme Scholarship to later complete an MFA in Creative Practice: Dance Professional Practice at Trinity Laban, London, in partnership with Independent Dance (2019–21). She has collaborated with dancers and artists including Henrietta Hale, Manuela Albrecht, Emma Lindsay, William Hunt and others.
