Celebrate Halloween with meditation and connection to the elements - inside the cabin and out by the fire
Join us in person to celebrate Samhain - the celtic year end and a celebration of a returning to rest and honouring connection to our ancestors.
This event is a time to come together in the rich connection of this time of year, gathering outside by the fire, feeling the temperature shift and the welcome of the cold, and then pausing to get cosy in the cabin to journey deep into a place in your imagination where your ancestors whisper their wisdom and gently return you to the magic of the darkening days.
When the Veil Grows Thin at SamhainThere is a moment, at the turning of the year, when the world seems to hold its breath.
The leaves have fallen, the last fruits have been gathered, and the earth is settling into her long winter sleep. Smoke begins to rise from cottage chimneys, the nights draw close around us, and somewhere beyond the reach of our ordinary sight, the old stories begin to stir.
This is Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the year. A time between worlds, between seasons, between what has been and what is yet to come.
Our ancestors knew this threshold well.
In Ireland, it was said that at Samhain the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the otherworld grew thin. The sídhe — the mysterious folk of the hollow hills — might wander beyond their hidden places, and strange things could happen beneath the darkening sky. In the old tales, heroes encountered enchantment, ordinary paths led to extraordinary places, and the unseen world drew close enough to touch.
In Wales, the ancient stories speak of Annwn, a place of mystery and wonder. In the tale of Pwyll, Prince of Dyfed, the living and the otherworld meet at a woodland crossroads, reminding us that what appears familiar may hold secrets beyond our understanding.
And in the old English traditions, the turning seasons carried their own magic. The word winterfylleth, recorded in Anglo-Saxon writings, marked the beginning of winter by the turning of the moon. The year was not simply a number on a calendar, but a living rhythm, measured in harvests, darkness, cold and the promise of returning light.
At Samhain, we remember those who walked before us. We might set a candle in the window, speak the names of those we miss, or leave a little space at our table for those we've lost to ensure that their memories still warm our hearts. We honour the wisdom carried through generations, the stories that have shaped us, and the invisible threads that connect us to those who came before.
But Samhain is not only a time for remembering. It is also a time for releasing.
As the trees surrender their leaves, we too can lay down what we no longer need. The burdens we have carried, the expectations that have grown heavy, the versions of ourselves we have outgrown. We can allow the darkness to be a place of rest rather than fear, a fertile stillness in which something new can quietly begin.
So imagine, for a moment, a circle of kindred souls gathered in the darkness and gentle light of the campfire. The wind moves through the trees and stirs our remembering. Within, there is warmth, quiet, reflection and gentle journeying into those magical spaces in your mind where your ancestors and guides are waiting to greetyou.
Share stories, honour memories and notice the intentions whispered into the dark.
No one needs to arrive with answers. No one needs to be anything other than themselves.
Only a willingness to pause, to listen, and to meet the turning of the year together.
This Samhain, you are invited to step across the threshold.
Come gather with us in the spirit of the old traditions: to honour the past, release what has been, celebrate the magic of the present and welcome the mysteries of the season ahead.
Bring your curiosity, your memories, your hopes and your open heart.
The nights are drawing in. The fire is waiting*. And the old stories are calling us home.
