Join us for an evening of creativity & community where we’re making space for big ideas, creative expression & the things that keep us going

Join us for an evening of creativity and community at Dream, Dare, Do.

Croydon Makers & Creators (https://www.croydonmakersandcreators.com/) is a membership organisation set up by the Croydon community to help us shape culture in Croydon, make our voices heard and get to know other creatives.

This time, we’re making space for big ideas, creative expression and the things that keep us going. From a participatory dream workshop to open mic performances from local artists, we’ll be coming together to share our hopes, celebrate local talent and imagine what might be possible.

Dreamtime with MaxYasmeen | 5.30pm–6.30pm

Join artist Max Yasmeen for a participatory workshop exploring dreaming as a form of sustenance, connection and possibility. Dreams can feel like a luxury when life is difficult, but they can also be the very thing that keeps us going.

Gather around a Persian carpet and turn your dreams into imaginary dishes, using vintage dinnerware and teaware to serve them up to one another. Through writing, sharing and conversation, we’ll create a collective menu of dreams, hopes and possibilities.

You can keep your own dream, gift it to someone else or leave it behind as part of the artwork’s growing archive. No experience necessary, just bring your imagination!

Together We Create | 6.30pm–7.15pm

Our resident artist Anita Wadsworth invites you to help create an artwork celebrating the people and places that have shaped our creative lives.

Think of a person, place or moment that has inspired you, influenced what you do today or helped you become who you are. Share your story with someone else, listen to theirs, and explore the connections between our experiences.

Together, we’ll capture these stories in different ways, from handwritten memories and lists of names, places and dates to audio recordings, photographs and short films exploring the gestures that bring a story to life.

Local Performers Open Mic | 7.15pm–8.15pm

We’ve opened the floor to local artists. Discover new voices and celebrate the creativity thriving in our community.

A Festive Finale | 8.15pm–8.30pm

We’ll finish the evening by bringing everyone together for some festive-themed communal singing. Whether you know all the words or are happy to join in with the chorus, come ready to raise your voice and share a little seasonal joy.

Food

As always, we’ll also be serving food and drink.

Dream big, share your ideas and discover what we can create together.
