Slow Down & See: An Autumn Photography Walk in Tonbridge is set for 10 October 2026. This guided photography walk is designed for beginners who wish to enhance their creativity and observation skills.
A gentle, guided photography walk for beginners who would like to slow down, look more closely and enjoy being creative.
Join photographer and experienced workshop facilitator Adele Watts for a relaxed autumn photography walk around Tonbridge Castle and along the River Medway.
Through a series of simple photographic prompts, we’ll explore light, colour, texture, detail and the atmosphere of our surroundings. The emphasis is on noticing, experimenting and enjoying the process—not technical expertise or taking the “perfect” photograph.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. You can use a smartphone or bring a digital camera.
What we’ll do
Begin with a relaxed introduction and some practical tips for taking photographs with a mobile phone
Explore the Castle surroundings and riverside at an unhurried pace
Try guided exercises based around autumn light, colour and detail
Spend some time following your own curiosity
Regroup for a brief reflection and optional Q&A
You’re welcome to bring a digital camera, but please be aware that this won’t be a technical digital-camera workshop. The exercises will focus primarily on looking, composition and creativity rather than detailed camera settings.
There is no pressure to share your photographs or keep up with anybody else. You’ll be encouraged to work at your own pace.
Who it’s for
Adults who are new to photography—or returning to it—and would enjoy a calm, creative morning outdoors.
What to bring
A smartphone or digital camera
A fully charged battery
Enough free storage space on your phone or memory card for new photographs
Comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
Accessibility
Wheelchair users are very welcome. The route will avoid steps and follow accessible paths wherever possible.
If you use a wheelchair and require assistance, please attend with someone who can provide the support you need, as I will be responsible for leading the group. An accompanying support person may attend free of charge; please contact me in advance so I can reserve their place.
Please get in touch before booking if you would like to discuss any access requirements.
