Explore this exciting, versatile process, combining collagraph, intaglio and carborundum.

In the intaglio print process, layered surfaces and incised marks hold the printing ink to give rich textures and tones.

Join printmaker Shirley Stevenson to create your own intaglio plates, working with a range of marking tools for mark making, texture, shape and tone, and wet media to give painterly qualities.

You will be introduced to different ways of printing your plate and adding colour. You will have time to experiment and be creative, producing a series of prints to take home.

This course is suitable for both beginners and those looking to extend their printmaking experience.

What will I need to bring?

All materials and equipment will be provided.

Please wear old clothes as printing can get messy. No sandals, heels or open toed shoes. Aprons will be provided.

Teas, coffees and biscuits are provided.

About the tutor

Shirley Stevenson is an artist and printmaker, working with drawing, paint, collage and print media. Shirley is vastly experienced at teaching printmaking, and brings her wealth of knowledge, gentle manner and encouragement to all she does.

About Carousel Print Studio

Carousel Print Studio is a not for profit charity based on the ground floor of Exchange Place Studios in Castlegate, Sheffield. Carousel printmaking workshops and facilities for creatives in Sheffield, in a bright, warm, accessible and well equipped printmaking studio.

Carousel is located on the ground floor just to the left of reception. The doors are widened for ease of access and there is an accessible toilet. If you have any questions regarding access needs please do contact us at print@carouselprintstudio.com
