Create your own papers with marbling, linocut stamping and Gelli plate printing.

Join artist Aprille McShane for a fun, hands-on and explorative four-hour workshop introducing three playful printmaking processes: marbling, linocut stamping and Gelli plate printing.

You will experiment with colour, pattern, texture and mark-making, discovering how each technique can be used to create unique and expressive decorative papers.

From the fluid, unpredictable patterns of marbling, to repeat designs using hand-carved lino stamps and layered prints made with a Gelli plate, there will be plenty of opportunity to play with materials, experiment with different approaches, and discover unexpected results.

The session is suitable for beginners, with an emphasis on curiosity, process and creative exploration, rather than achieving a perfect outcome.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have a collection of one-of-a-kind decorative papers to take away, ready to use for collage, bookmaking, wrapping, papercrafts or future creative projects.

This course is run by Aprille McShane. Aprille has over ten years' experience in teaching and delivering visual art workshops for all ages. Her classes are aimed at beginners, and through her supportive approach she makes art accessible and inclusive for all.

Aprille specialises in relief printmaking, monoprint and monotype, often working with mark-making, cardboard and other materials to create hybrid prints. Her playful approach to printmaking is encouraged in her workshops where she champions individual creative adventures.

About Carousel Print Studio

Carousel Print Studio is a not for profit charity based on the ground floor of Yorkshire Artspace, Exchange Place Studios in Castlegate, Sheffield. Carousel provides printmaking workshops iand facilities for creatives in Sheffield, in a bright, warm, accessible and well equipped printmaking studio.

Carousel is located on the ground floor just to the left of reception. The doors are widened for ease of access and there is an accessible toilet. If you have any questions regarding access needs please do contact us at print@carouselprintstudio.com

What will I need to bring?

All materials and equipment will be provided.

Please wear old clothes as printing can get messy. Aprons will be provided.

Bring a packed lunch. Teas and coffees are provided.

If the course is cancelled? In the unlikely event the course is cancelled by Carousel Print Studio, a full refund will be issued, or your booking can be transferred to another course.
