Say a Poem

Say a poem training day

The Say a poem team show you how to bring the joy of spoken poetry into everyday classroom life. This training is recommended for Headteachers, literacy leads, nursery to Year 3 teachers - in all schools.

What is Say a poem?

Our poems:

are rich in language to build children’s vocabulary

are playful to say to develop oracy

support development of early language.

Each of our 80+ poems are brought to life in an engaging five-minute film which encourages participation and speaking aloud. Each film makes children feel ‘I can do it!’

What will I learn?

By the end of the day, you will know how to:

develop clear, confident speech

help children remember new vocabulary

sharpen children’s attention

show how meaning and intention affect tone and intonation

boost confidence and self‐expression

help children articulate their feelings

create safety, connection and class identity.
