Sheffield Christmas Celebration on Devonshire green

Music, food and drink and a spectacular festive light show will come together at Devonshire Green as part of Sheffield’s biggest Christmas season yet.

Taking place on Sunday 15 November from 3pm until 6.30pm, the event will bring a new Christmas celebration to Devonshire Green as part of Sheffield’s festive opening weekend.

The free, ticketed event will feature live music from Planet Abba (tribute) a Taylor Swift Tribute (Katy Ellis), alongside the fantastic Jingle Girls, who will be bringing traditional Christmas Songs to life live on stage.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy festive food and drink from local suppliers, before the event builds towards a special Christmas light spectacular.

The show will transform Devonshire Green with an exciting laser and light shows for the whole family to enjoy. While Christmas trees around the area will also be lit up as part of the celebrations.

Tickets are completely free and will be available from Thursday 22 Oct at 10.00am. Availability is limited and everyone attending must have a ticket to enter the event.

All children under 14 must be accompanied.

Doors will open at 3pm and last entry is at 4:15pm. Please ensure you arrive before this time. Entry cannot be guaranteed for anyone arriving after 4:15pm, even if you have a valid ticket.

If you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket via Eventbrite as soon as possible so that your place can be offered to someone else.

Cllr Ben Miskell, Chair of the Economic Development, Skills and Culture Committee at Sheffield City Council, said:

“This Christmas is shaping up to be a really exciting one for Sheffield and our new celebration at Devonshire Green will be a brilliant way to bring people together and get the festive season underway.

“We’ll have live music, festive food and drink and a spectacular light show, all building up to the lighting of the Christmas trees around Devonshire Green.

“We wanted to bring something new to this part of the city centre and create an event that families and friends can enjoy together.

“Best of all, the event is completely free. People will still need a ticket to attend, so I’d encourage everyone who wants to join us to get theirs and come along for what should be a fantastic Christmas celebration.”

The event will be the first time Devonshire Green has featured in Sheffield’s Christmas opening weekend celebrations. The wider weekend, on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November, will include street entertainment, children’s characters, craft activities, music from local bands and live performances across the city centre.

Sheffield’s Christmas Markets will also be underway after opening on Thursday 12 November. More than 50 cabins will stretch across Fargate, Pinstone Street and The Moor, with more than 80 per cent of traders from the local area.

And there is plenty more to come throughout the festive season, including the return of an artificial ice rink to Tudor Square for the first time in more than a decade, a snow slide on Surrey Street and Christmas lights across more of the city centre.
