A weekend, non-residential, retreat led by Insight Meditation teacher, Ajahn Jutindaro.
The Retreat - Towards Balance
During this weekend, non-residential, retreat, the practice will be rooted in sitting/stillness and walking/movement meditation with an emphasis on mindfulness of body and breath.
Ajahn Jutindharo encourages a gentle and relaxed approach to meditation to enable us to be less goal-oriented and rigid in our practice - he also likes to explore how we can bring more awareness to everyday and commonplace situations so that we experience more adaptability and ease.
There will be time for questions and answers as well as Ajahn Jutindharo’s own reflections.
Please can you bring with you an object of contemplation which can be held in the hand, just a few centimetres wide and long - it can be an everyday object or something more unusual.
There will also be some lying down practice. You may like to bring your own blanket but we do have some mats and small blankets to share.
The event will take place in-person at Whirlow Spirituality Centre, Whirlow Grange Close, Sheffield, S11 9SY. The venue has beautiful grounds and is wheelchair accessible
Chairs, mats , meditation cushions biscuits and hot drinks will be available but please bring your own lunch on both days.
Saturday 12th September 10.00 am-5.00 pm and Sunday 13th September 11 am-4.30 pm You are welcome to arrive half an hour before the retreat starts each day.
The schedule includes 30 minutes for Sangha building (tea and chat) at the close of each day.
Ajahn Jutindharo
Ajahn Jutindharo has practised and taught meditation for many years grounded in the Buddha's teaching of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, with a particular emphasis on body awareness.
In recent years Ajahn has explored approaches to mindful movement: 'Amerta' - focusing on the body in movement in the environment; and 'Move into Life' - the art of being in movement. Both approaches, as with some others, can help to lessen habits and patterns and hence the sense of identification.
Ajahn joined a Buddhist monastic order in 1987. His monastic life has been spent primarily in Britain, with short periods in Asia.
Since 2007 he has been the senior incumbent at the Hartridge Monastery in Devon.
There are many talks by Ajahn Jutindharo on Dharmaseed. Here is one if you would like to listen

Dana

Our teachers are following an ancient tradition, offering teachings freely just as they received them freely from a previous generation of teachers. In this way the dharma (the teachings of the Buddhist tradition) is not made an object of commerce, and can continue. The relationship between teacher and student is based upon trust, freedom, and mutual generosity.
If you attend one of our events and appreciate what the teacher has offered, we warmly invite you to make whatever contribution you feel appropriate. If you do so, you will be making a vital contribution to their livelihood and helping them to continue teaching on this generous basis, particularly in situations where people cannot afford to pay anything.
Dana can be offered to the teacher, Ajahn Jutindharo/Hartridge Monastery, during and after the retreat. The monastery doesn't have the facility to receive card or paypal donations but bank transfers can be done via online banking. The account details are:
