Get hands-on with Digital Scholarship to 3D scan objects and master the skills needed to create your own life-size 3D-printed replicas.

This fully participatory workshop will take place on Tuesday 15 September, starting at 2:00pm and running for 90 minutes.

This is an immersive, hands-on session where you will operate 3D imaging rigs and learn how to 3D print from scans. To allow for direct equipment access and expert guidance, the group is limited to a maximum of 8 people.

During the session, you will be guided through the practical steps of capturing a high-resolution 3D scan and preparing files for fabrication.

Participants are encouraged to bring in an item they may wished to have 3D scanned and 3D printed. These items should be between 2-20cm and ideally should not be too shiny or monochrome. Not all participants will get the chance to 3D print their scan in the session due to time constraints, however best effort will be made to 3D print any scans after the session for collection at a later date.

Attendees should meet in the Hartley Library foyer (Building 36, Highfield Campus) 10 minutes prior to the start time to be escorted to the 4th-floor Hartley Conference Room. The venue is fully accessible via lift for those with mobility requirements.

Please be aware that the 3D imaging equipment used to scan the objects involves the use of flashing lights.
