Dance the night away at our 1940s & '50s themed Vulcan Hangar Dance with the Sid Bolan Big Band & Ruby Robinson

The Sid Bolan Big Band, joined by Local jazz singer Ruby Robinson, return once again another exciting evening at our 40s & 50s Hangar Dance at the Vulcan.

The dance will take place in the Vulcan Restoration Trust's hangar at London Southend Airport, known as Royal Air Force Rochford during the Second World War.

You can dance the night away beneath Vulcan XL426's giant delta wings. The Sid Bolan 18-piece band will be playing a selection of dance hits from the wartime and post-war years with Ruby singing along. If you're a beginner, or your dancing skills are in need of a refresh, the Air Raid Jive Dance School will be on hand with a fun 'tutorials' so everyone can hone their dance moves before the Sid Bolan Big Band takes to the stage!

The hangar doors will open at 6.00 pm. DJ Dinger will get the evening underway shortly after doors open, the popular DJ playing sounds from the '40 & '50s to get everyone in the mood for the evening to come.

The Air Raid Jive Dance School will begin their first 30 minute 'tutorial' at 7.00 pm before returning during the interval at 8.30 pm.

The Sid Bolan Big Band will play two 'sets', the first from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm and the second from 9.00 pm until the close of the evening at 10.15 pm.

We encourage everyone attending to dress vintage to give the evening an authentic '40s and '50s 'feel'. But please wrap-up as aircraft hangars aren't the warmest of places - and it will be October!

There will be a licensed pay bar. Refreshments, including hot and cold food, will be on sale throughout the evening.

Tickets are £21 with VRT Members entitled to reduced price admission of £17. Booking fees apply.

Sorry - no pets or animals (with the exception of assistance dogs) can be admitted to the event.

Ticket purchasers will be sent full details prior to the event.

This is a fundraising event organised to benefit the Vulcan Restoration Trust.
