About This Event

A workshop on cyanotype printing, rewilding and biodiversity takes place at Hadleigh Park on 25 August 2026. Attendance is free. Participants will collect local seeds and create art using cyanotype techniques.

Seed bombs and sculptures with local clay

In the third art-making session of this series, we’ll be collecting seeds from local plants to show you how to do your own rewilding at home!

Join us for a walk around Hadleigh Country Park as we identify local plants, explore the rewilding efforts, learn about the histories held by the land, and collect seeds to make seed bombs. Seed bombs are sometimes used by guerrilla gardeners to spread seeds in barren urban spots of land that could use some plants. But they’re also an easy and impactful way to grow native wildflowers, restore habitat, and add natural beauty to your space.

After our walk we’ll return to the workshop space nextdoor to the Tea Rooms where you’ll learn how to make seed bombs with plants we’ve collected. We’ll incorporate local clay harvested from the Park, which was historically used for brickmaking. This clay can also be used to make little sculptures infused with seeds, which you can take home to break down in your garden.

No experience necessary and all materials will be provided. Bring good walking shoes as the ground is uneven, a sun hat, and some water.

If you would prefer to skip the walk and just join us to make the seed bombs, just let us know when you register, or send an email to cathartart@gmail.com.

We will be meeting at the Hub next to the Chapel Lane Car Park but keep an eye on emails for updates!

Superseeded is an ongoing artistic exploration of Hadleigh Country Park in collaboration with Hadleigh Farm Estate. The site holds many years of history, from the 13th century when Hadleigh Castle was built as a site of strategic defense, to the establishment of the Salvation Army Farm Colony in the late 1800s, to use of the Hadleigh farm lands for an anti-aircraft battery during WW2.

Now, much of the land is being returned to nature as farmland is turned into wetland, and grazing native breed livestock is used to create habitat for lapwings, dragonflies, and skylarks.

This workshop series explores the results of the rewilding efforts which have turned fallow farmland into species-rich grassland, flower rich margins, and traditional orchards. We’ll share artistic techniques and wise practices for engaging with local wildlife and materials in ways that give you a hands-on creative experience with the land.
