Join Groundwork East for the River Colne Volunteer Day!

On Saturday 12th September, we will be hosting a series of volunteer activities for you to get involved in. Whether you are a seasoned volunteer or new, this is a great opportunity to help protect the River Colne, a rare chalkstream habitat.

Tree Trimming, 12.30-13.45-

This will be our first activity of the volunteer day. We will be maintaining local trees and then creating Brushwood Bundles out of the off cuts. Bundles are created to reinforce Berms that can be purposely built into a river to give it shape and stability. Silt collects in the brushwood, stabilising river banks, reducing the visible level of dirt in the channel and creating habitats for all levels of wildlife.

We will be using loppers to cut branches. Saws' may be used.

All equipment will be provided. Please wear suitable clothing for outdoor volunteering.
