Knowsley Council Celebrates Black History Month – Honouring our Communities.

Black History Month (BHM) is an annual celebration of the history, heritage and culture of Black communities in the UK. Taking place each October, it provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements, contributions and lasting impact of Black people on British society.

To mark Black History Month, Knowsley Council's Business Growth team in partnership with the LCR Race Equality Hub and One Knowsley is hosting an entrepreneurship event on the 13 October 2026 at the Partnership for Learning (PFL) Training and Conference Centre. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Hosted by renowned BBC journalist Ngunan Adamu, reflecting the 2026 theme, Honouring Our Communities, this dynamic event will bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs and community champions for an afternoon of thought-provoking discussion, entertainment and networking.

Delegates will be welcomed with an energetic performance from MD Productions, setting the tone for an engaging and memorable experience. Following an opening address from Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, attendees will hear an overview of the Liverpool City Region Anti-Racism Strategy from the LCR Race Equality Hub, highlighting the ongoing commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable region.

The programme will feature an insightful panel discussion, chaired by Sylvia Kalungi, where inspiring entrepreneurs will share their personal journeys, challenges and successes, offering valuable insights and motivation for aspiring and established business owners alike.

An emotive dance performance will provide a powerful reflection on the themes explored throughout the event before delegates enjoy delicious food and the opportunity to connect with fellow attendees.

The event will conclude with a vibrant marketplace showcasing a diverse range of local Black-led businesses, offering a fantastic opportunity to discover products and services, support local enterprise and build meaningful connections.

Whether you're an entrepreneur, business professional, community leader or ally, this is a unique opportunity to celebrate achievement, gain inspiration and be part of the conversation driving positive change across the Liverpool City Region.
