About This Event

Advance Care Planning Training takes place on 19 October 2026 at St Julia's Hospice in St Ives. Hosted by Cornwall Hospice Care, the session is designed specifically for health and social care staff operating across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Various professionals will deliver the course content, with tickets priced at £40.00. The event aims to support workforce development within the local care sector.

This Advance Care Planning training is for health and social care staff across Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.

We are running small group face-to-face training sessions on Advance Care Planning suitable for health and social care staff.

The training includes:

Understanding the principles and process of Advance Care Planning (ACP)

Identify the benefits of ACP to patients, family, professionals and carers

Developing effective communication skills

Awareness of the barriers to ACP

Understanding the implications of the Mental Capacity Act

Awareness of local resources to support individuals in the ACP planning process

Understanding of own role involvement and that of the multidisciplinary team, family and carers

This training session counts as 3 hours towards your continuous professional development and a certificate will be issued on completion.
