On Saturday, 12 September 2026, from 10:30 am at Penzance Railway Station, embark on a leisurely walk along the picturesque Mount's Bay. This event aims to explore both historical and contemporary climate changes through shared stories, offering participants an engaging way to understand environmental trends. Throughout the journey, you will have the opportunity for reflection during a mid-morning lunch break in St Ives, which provides a serene setting to delve deeper into the area’s environmental history. Admission is £5 per person, making this a cost-effective and enriching experience.

Join us on Saturday 12th September 2026 for a historical geography themed walk in Mount’s Bay, "Past and Present Climate Stories From Mount's Bay".
During the event, we will delve into the rich local stories there surrounding the submerged forest, the historical impact of tsunamis, and the development of new flood defences. This event was immensely successful last year and has been enhanced to provide an expanded experience, we would love to see you there!
The £5 Climate Walk 10:45- 2:45 booking ticket is non-refundable, with a chance to stop an hour for a lunch break and a chat at Longrock (Mount View Hotel, Mexcio Inn or a packed lunch - we have 1 hour for you to enjoy your lunch).
Times shown include travelling from Truro Station. The walk is 10.45-2.45, including an hour lunch stop. We will get the train from Truro on Saturday 12th September at 9:59am arriving in Penzance at 10:38am. If you book in advance on Trainline (Trainline Train To Penzance) it will be 68% less CO2 emitted than doing the same distance by car (saving 3.07kg CO2e)! Check back here a month and week before the event for minor adjustments.
The walk starts promptly from Penzance train station at 10.45. The walk to Long Rock beach car park is 40-45 minutes (2 miles) on a flat, easy walking surface. Toilets are available at Penzance train station (This section will be from 10:45-midday with stops).
Further along Long Rock beach, we leave the coast path, for a short pavement walk to the Mount View Hotel or Mexico Inn, where we will stop for our halfway point for a drink and rest. We would aim to be there just after midday, leaving promptly at 1.15pm. The Mount View Hotel have disabled toilets and a great range of drinks and food to buy (Doreen does a wonderful ploughmans). Dogs are welcome on a lead. If you choose the Mount View Hotel, for a continued chat during the lunch break, there will be a complimmentary hot or cold drink.
We will re-join the coast path AT Longrock Beach car park promptly at 1.30 and walk 40-45 minutes (2 miles) back to Penzance station (This section will be from 1:30-2:45pm with stops).
We will take the train back to Truro leaving Penzance at 3.15pm and arriving back in Truro for 3.53pm.
PLEASE NOTE: These train times will be confirmed here in late Summer when available, but unlikely to change. The walk will remain starting at 10:45.
