Learn the basics of lichen identification in this hands-on workshop.

This workshop is funded by the Alexanda Fund and costs just £10 to attend. For this reason, it is open only to non-professionals.

In this workshop, we will be coached in the basics of lichen identification. We will explore the church grounds, examining and identifying the lichens growing on the headstones and other materials. In the afternoon, we will take a stroll down towards Argal reservoir to look for lichens that grow on trees.

Complete beginners to lichens are very welcome. Those with more experience should also find this workshop useful in honing their skills.

This workshop has primarily been organised for the benefit of the Mabe church helpers, but is also available for anyone else to attend.

The Alexanda Recorders Fund is made available to support biological recording and recorders in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. ERCCIS have applied to make this workshop accessible in price and enable more people to improve their identification skills. Anyone can apply to the fund to cover expenses relating to recording, from tools and equipment to training opportunities.
