A free, men-only screening and honest conversation about consent, masculinity, accountability, and what love asks of us.

“The Work of Love” is not about comfort or performance. It is the discipline of choosing care, honesty, accountability, repair, and imagination in public.

That belief opens the second annual Imagine Harlem with Hey Neighbor!, an intentional men-only screening and community conversation. The evening centers The Other Foot, a 15-minute narrative short directed by Dante J. Bailey. Following the screening, guests will enter Imagine Harlem’s Accountability Room: a facilitated conversation about masculinity, consent, intervention, and the responsibility men have to guide and care for one another.

The discussion will be grounded in accountability without shame. Love does not excuse harm or avoid difficult truths; it asks us to become more responsible to one another. Together, we will consider what healthier models of manhood, communication, and community care can look like across generations. Come prepared to watch, listen, speak honestly, and reflect on the role each of us play. Admission is free and advance registration is encouraged.

Imagine Harlem is a civic and cultural platform produced by NewScope Media to reconnect and empower our community through storytelling, dialogue, creativity, and shared experiences.

The second annual Imagine Harlem takes place September 8–12, 2026. This year’s theme, “The Work of Love,” asks neighbors to practice care, honesty, accountability, repair, and imagination in public not simply as values, but as responsibilities we share.

Throughout the festival, activations honor prominent Black leaders whose lives and work continue to shape how we understand truth, creativity, community care, and collective possibility. Among those honored are Marion Stokes, Chef Charles Gabriel, Alma Thomas, James Baldwin, Althea Gibson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Their names and legacies help define what each festival space invites neighbors to practice.
