Combining folk with jazz, rock, psychedelia, and blues, Pentangle has blazed a trail and brought folk to a wide audience, playing alongside artists including Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, and Joni Mitchell. What to expect: Pentangle is coming into its sixtieth year and still sounds fresh, exciting, and innovative today. Jacqui’s voice simply shines, and the rest of the group are musically at the top of their collective game. This is a show not to be missed! About the artist(s): Formed in 1967, Pentangle is a five-piece British folk rock band which originally consisted of Jacqui McShee (vocals), John Renbourn (vocals and guitar), Bert Jansch (vocals and guitar), Danny Thompson (double bass), and Terry Cox (drums). The band still tours the UK and Europe today, with the present-day incarnation featuring Jacqui alongside Spencer Cozens (keyboards and vocals), Alan Thomson (bass), Martin Winnings (clarinet and flute), and Pascal Consoli (drums). Trying to describe the Pentangle’s music is like trying to describe a sunset. You can talk of the colours, but the overall effect has to be seen to be appreciated.
