Aim

This two-day course has been designed to help attendees maximise opportunities for improving both individual teaching practice and personal development.

Course learning outcomes

After this course, you should be able to:

Identify and apply key learning theories

Structure, develop and write effective learning outcomes

Evaluate learning sessions

Recognise cognitive load theory and identify strategies to mitigate it

Identify and discuss assessment strategies

Plan teaching interventions

Identify and discuss primary modes of feedback

Identify basic digital tools to prepare learning content

Recognise and support students experiencing difficulties

Teach a practical skill

Format

The course will run over two-days; the first being Monday 9th November 2026, followed by day two on Monday 16th November 2026

Both days start at 9.00am and finish at approximately 4.15pm

Physical attendance is required on both days in order to be elibigle for the certificate of completion

This training is only offered free to clinicians who have teaching contact with students studying at Keele's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. If this does not apply to you, you may still be able to attend but there will be a charge. Please contact medicine.training@keele.ac.uk for more information.
