Tracheostomy train the trainer course for nurses and experienced healthcare professionals

Train the Trainer: Tracheostomy Care - 2-Day Open Course

Being an expert in tracheostomy care doesn't automatically make you an expert at teaching it.

That gap - between doing a skill and being able to teach it safely, assess it rigorously, and defend that assessment - is exactly what this course is designed to close.

Momentum People's Train the Trainer Tracheostomy Course is one of only a small number of dedicated TTT tracheostomy programmes available in the UK. It is designed for nurses and healthcare professionals who are already competent in tracheostomy care (adults and/or children) and are ready to develop the skills and confidence to train others.

Who is this course for?

This course is for you if you are a nurse, physio, doctor, clinical lead or other registered healthcare professional who:

Is already competent in tracheostomy care

Has been asked - formally or informally - to train colleagues

Wants to move beyond "see one, do one, teach one"

Needs to be able to competency assess learners and produce defensible documentation

What makes this course different

Most clinical training stops at the clinical knowledge. This course goes further.

Delivered over two full days by Momentum People's specialist clinical trainers, the programme is built around three pillars that are rarely covered together:

1. Teaching skills for clinical environments - You'll learn how to break down complex clinical skills, adapt your approach to different learners, and structure training that actually works because knowledge is retained long after the session ends.

2. Competency assessment done properly - Competency assessing is one of the most underrated and undertaught aspects of training. You'll leave knowing how to observe effectively, ask the right questions, identify gaps in understanding (not just performance), and critically, how to have the difficult conversation when someone isn't ready to be signed off.

3. Organisational defensibility - Regulators and commissioners increasingly want to see not just that staff have been trained, but how, including evidence of competency assessments. This course equips you to create consistent, evidenced, repeatable training that stands up to scrutiny.

The course uses interactive, multi-modal delivery designed to engage all learning styles. It's not a two-day lecture and it is much more than a simple teach back seession. Delegates will learn how to teach effectively, so their own delegates retain the knowledge and in turn carry out much safer practice.

Why this matters for tracheostomy care specifically

Tracheostomy care involves clinical judgment, risk awareness, and emergency response. The consequences of poorly trained staff are serious. Patients and learners deserve more than informal handover of a high-risk skill. Organisations need more than verbal reassurance.

This course exists because great care doesn't stop with the person delivering it, it grows when knowledge and passion are shared well.
