Learn about natural burial and the social and ecological benefits this practice offers on a tour of Alne Wood Park Natural Burial Ground
Join one of the Alne Wood Park team on an early evening guided tour of Alne Wood Park Natural Burial Ground, exploring the significance of remembrance and ceremony through the lens of Natural Burial.
What to expect:
Meeting in the carpark, you’ll be led around the burial ground, stopping at various points to discuss the significance and deep roots of human rituals to their evolving role today. In addition, you'll gain insight into how planning a funeral in advance can shape not only personal legacies but also foster both social and ecological well-being.
As we consider the environmental impact of traditional funeral practices, we will also examine the ways in which natural burials offer a sustainable alternative, nurturing local ecosystems while addressing the climate crisis.
Throughout this journey, we’ll highlight what we do at Alne Wood Park Natural Burial Ground, showcasing how these themes come to life in our approach.
The event will provide plenty of space for reflection and dialogue, with time for your questions at the end.
Please note that this event discusses death and funerals in a practical and direct manner, so that should be taken into consideration when deciding whether to attend.
This walk will last approximately 60 minutes and requires walking uphill and over uneven ground. Dogs kept on short leads are welcome to join.
