Let's Move Family Activity Day

Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of sports and activities at the Let's Move Family Activity Day! This event is organised by Children's Cancer North in collaboration with event partner, Foundation of Light.

Bring your loved ones along and enjoy a range of interactive games, engaging workshops, and challenges. From a choice of indoor and outdoor sports, there's something for all ages and abilities to enjoy.

What to expect

The aim of the day is to firstly have fun! You will experience and learn about a range of activities available in your local area with a chance to try them all out across the afternoon. There will be lots of different local sports and activity clubs there so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

You'll have the chance to meet our charity mascot, Dot, and their other mascot friends, and watch them race each other down our mini Children's Cancer Run course before having a go yourself to receive your own finisher certificate! Plus you can throw sponges at your Consultant, meet new people and make new friends, all alongside discovering and trying out a new activity or sport you might want to take up.

There will also be arts and craft activities, quiet areas, a place to sit and rest, plus much more! Snacks and refreshments will also be available to purchase on site from the venue cafe.

How to get there:

By car

The postcode is SR5 1SN.

Free parking is available for the first two hours in the green or blue car parks next to the Stadium of Light (parking charges apply beyond two hours) from which it is then a short walk to The Beacon of Light entrance.

Blue badge parking is available outside of the venue and can be accessed via the Sunderland Aquatic Centre’s car park off Vaux Brewery Way. Please note that this can't be reserved and is on a first-come-first-served basis.

By bus

There are regular bus services to and from Stadium Park, with a bus stop outside the front entrance to The Beacon of Light.

Services are available from both Go North East and Stagecoach.

By rail and Metro

Sunderland is serviced by the Tyne and Wear Metro railway system, connecting the city to Newcastle East Coast mainline and Newcastle International Airport.

Trains run approximately every 10 minutes with the Stadium of Light and St Peter’s stations (the closest of the two) just a few minutes walk away.
