The Climate Leaders Training Programme is set to commence on Tuesday 19 May 2026 at The Environment Centre in Swansea, with proceedings starting at 6pm. This complimentary workshop marks the launch of a comprehensive 12-month initiative, crafted to arm participants with the necessary skills to spearhead climate action within their local communities. A range of seasoned facilitators will steer attendees through key subjects such as project planning, community engagement, and environmental science. From 'Carbon Footprinting' and 'Climate Justice' to 'Community Action' and 'Creating Change' join us as we start our exciting new 12 month training programme developed for those who are keen to take a Climate Leadership role in their community group. These sessions are once a month for the next 12 months.
About
The programme aims to help improve your confidence in taking community action to reduce carbon emissions and tackle climate issues at the community level and beyond.
Sessions will be network-led and you will gain knowledge, skills and resources to help you take action to create and inspire change within your group or organisation and the wider community.
Learn more about our programme in this introductory session and meet some inspirational climate leaders taking action in and around Swansea.
Who is it for?
This training is suited to those who who are an active member of a Swansea based community group and who are keen to take a lead on Climate Change in that group. Interested individuals are also welcome to apply.
What will the course cover?
Over the 12 months we will cover, Learning what a climate leader is, carbon literacy & climate justice, community action, learning about what role you can play, having difficult converstaions, Climate FRESK, learn climate action tools; gerenrating intrested, creating change, measuring change, Pathways to action; mapping out change, committing to change and reflections.
When is the course being held?
The first session of this course is March 18th. The course is being held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Environment Centre, Pier St, Swansea.

This Training Programme is fully funded for registered BIG Climate Leap groups. We are open to applications from new groups.
Interested individuals are welcome to join this programme for a £15 one off payment made after the second session. Arrangements can be made if you feel this payment may not be manageable for you so please do get in touch.
After you've booked your place, a project officer from the Big Climate Leap will be in touch to send you more information about the programme and to have a brief chat via email or phone to discuss any accessibility needs and answer any questions you might have.
We are keen to make our events as inclusive as possible. If you have any additional support needs please let us know and we will do our best to accomodate you.
This is one of the opportunities made available through The Big Climate Leap, a National Lottery Funded project supporting Swansea based organisations and the community to implement sustainable actions and reduce their carbon emissions.
