Implementing the New Enabling Learning Guidance from 3–16
A professional learning course led by Katrina Peters
The emerging Enabling Learning Guidance places progression, pedagogy and learner development at the heart of curriculum design. Whilst many schools will recognise these principles through Foundation Learning and early years practice, the guidance encourages us to consider how they can be sustained and strengthened across the full 3–16 continuum.
This course will explore the key messages within the guidance and what they mean for learning, teaching and progression in practice. Participants will consider the role of enabling adults, engaging experiences and effective environments in supporting learner progress, alongside the importance of child and adolescent development in curriculum design.
Throughout the session, we will explore practical examples, reflect on current practice and consider what enabling learning looks like across different ages, phases and contexts.
Participants will leave with:
A clearer understanding of the key principles within the Enabling Learning Guidance
Greater confidence in recognising enabling learning in practice
Practical ideas for supporting progression across the 3–16 continuum
Identified next steps for their own setting
This course is suitable for teachers and leaders working across the 3–16 continuum, particularly those with responsibility for learning and teaching, progression and curriculum development.
