Our Bikeability courses encourage children to enjoy fresh air and exercise while learning to ride at a level appropriate to their age.

About the event

This three-hour course takes place on and off-road, including areas of traffic. For Level 2 our qualified instructors teach groups of up to 5 children to develop essential cycle skills and confidence. Your child must be able to ride without stabilisers to attend.

You will need to complete a booking for each of your children separately.

About the Bikeability Level 2 course

This course starts off-road, then moves on-road to create a real cycling experience. Our instructors support the riders to develop the essential skills and confidence they need to ride on the road. Your child must be able to ride independently to attend.

Check your cycle is roadworthy

Start and stop with more confidence

Pass stationary vehicles parked on a road

Understand the road: signals, signs and road markings

Negotiate the road: including quiet junctions, crossroads and roundabouts

Share the road with other road users.

Course length

This course is three hours long.

Who can take part?

Level 2 course is for school years 5, 6 and 7.

Our instructors

Our instructors are qualified to teach children to the ‘National Standard for Cycling,’ as defined by the Department of Transport. They all:

Are DBS checked.

Hold a First Aid qualification.

Have lots of experience teaching groups of children.

Have completed Safeguarding training.
