About This Event

A session titled 'Stand Against Abuse: Employer Responsibility In Focus' will occur on 16 November 2026 at Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Football Club. This free working session aims to clarify the responsibilities of employers regarding domestic abuse in the workplace, especially in light of upcoming Employment Rights changes. Attendees will learn about legal requirements and effective support strategies.

Demystify the rules, responsibilities, and practical approaches to supporting those affected by domestic abuse in the workplace.

Are you ready for the Employment Rights changes?

Important Employment Rights changes come into effect on 30th October, placing a greater duty of care on employers. That includes responsibility for staff working from home and those engaging with third parties. A recent survey of Wiltshire businesses found that many leaders want to do right by their people but don't know where to start.

This free working session is designed to change that.

Why it matters

According to the ONS Crime Survey for England and Wales (year ending March 2025), 3.8 million people have experienced domestic abuse. In Wiltshire alone, more than 40,000 domestic abuse crimes were recorded between 2019 and 2024, and the true figure is likely much higher. Whether we realise it or not, this is happening in our teams and workplaces.

This is not a networking event

There'll be no business cards, small talk or sales opportunities. It's a practical session with guidance from Wiltshire Police and local legal and HR experts, so you leave with something you can use.

Who should attend

Business owners, directors, senior leaders, HR professionals and anyone responsible for staff wellbeing, from any organisation in Wiltshire. Please share this with others in your network who would benefit.

About the event

Held in association with Wiltshire Police, Thrings, KR HR Consultancy and SWA, and sponsored by GEL Studios. The event grew out of the Male Allyship group founded by James Phipps following his TEDx Railway Village talk.

"This unique, free session is not a networking event, it is not being designed for sales opportunities. It is purely to give local leaders the right insight and knowledge to understand their legal responsibilities and can then act accordingly."

James Phipps, event organiser

"We are very keen that employers in Wiltshire have the right information and support to fulfil their legal obligations and we encourage leaders from any organisation in Wiltshire to come and attend this event."

Mark Cooper, Wiltshire Police
