SWWIC are delighted to be partnering with Treveth to offer a site visit at their Blackwater site, Hwel Kan

Hwel Kan is a 32-unit scheme of timber-frame bungalows in a charming and historic village nestled between Truro and Redruth, just a few miles from the stunning North Cornish coast.

This is such a great opportunity to see sustainable construction in action. Treveth has eliminated fossil fuel heating from its homes, instead using solar energy and air source heat pumps. They also incorporate energy-efficient features including LED lighting and enhanced wall and roof insulation meaning their properties already achieve many of the standards expected under future UK housing regulations.

Treveth aims to establish itself as the benchmark for quality residential development in Cornwall focussing on high-quality materials and construction methods.

Half the development is affordable housing and half are open market rental properties typically offered on three-year leases, providing greater security for tenants and encouraging community integration with priority given to people who live or work in the local area.

The first phase has been completed and occupied, the second phase is nearing completion and by the time we visit in September the third phase will be in its final stages meaning we will see homes in occupation as well as homes under construction.

Arrive for a 10am start followed by tea, coffee and cake at 12 before departing.
