Explore the stories embedded in Ireland’s Gothic castles with architectural historian, built-heritage consultant and writer Dr Judith Hill.

Her talk, Castles Speak, draws on her recent book and focuses on Gothic castles including Charleville Castle in Tullamore and Birr Castle, offering an engaging look at architecture, history and the meanings carried by these landmark buildings.

The talk takes place on Monday 12 October 2026 at Dooly’s Hotel, Emmet Square, Birr. The published listing does not provide a start time, so visitors should confirm the time with Birr Historical Society before travelling.

This Birr Historical Society talk is open to non-members; the society’s autumn programme lists individual talks at €5 with no advance booking requirement.
