The ONE

The One is a contemporary dance performance about a forgotten saviour, a figure whose story has faded with time. When people find themselves struggling, they begin to call upon the one they once believed would save them. But who is The One? A god? A king? A forgotten hero? Or simply a symbol of hope? The answer is left open for the audience to discover.The piece brings together four young dancers from the Laois Youth Dance Ensemble — Claudia, Hannah, Sheron and Iryna — alongside three professional dancers.

Ramakrishnan Rengarajan (Bubblelock) leads the professional ensemble, bringing over 20 years of dance practice and more than six years of professional performance experience in Ireland, specialising in hip-hop and locking, alongside Indian and street dance influences.With 18 years of dancing, Suriya Priya is a professional performing artist and has 8+ years performing experience. Performed at prestigious National and international events, films etc. Trained in Hip-Hop styles, Indian Classical and other.Vidhyutha is a Bharatanatyam dancer with 15 years of experience. Returning to performance after a short break, she brings the depth, discipline and storytelling tradition of Indian classical dance to the work.

Together, the dancers explore memory, struggle, belief and the human need for a saviour — leaving the identity of The One in the hands of the audience.

The main performance happenes the same evening 7 PM at Esker arts, Tullamore. Free tickets for the main show here . It is mandatory to book tickets for preview and main show seperately. The performances is suitable for all age groups.
