A circular walk from the Anglers Country Park to Walton Country Park before heading back. Steptracker clocked it at 6.5 miles, but to allow for variances I'll say it will be between 6 and 7 miles. Start point is the car park at Anglers Country Park, Wakefield, WF4 2EE Parking charges are £2 for 4hrs or £4 for the whole day. Please arrive by 10:30 at the latest to ensure we start the walk on time. From there we'll walk through Haw Park Wood, then through the Waterton Park Hotel grounds, where we will stop for lunch by the lakeside, before heading to Walton Country Park and returning to Anglers Country Park. The route will be through woodlands, across open fields, two of which house livestock, and will include two stretches along roads. One field is home to tethered horses, and the other field is usually home to sheep and/or horses, but there were also a few cows there when I recced the walk, but none of the animals paid any attention to me or others walking in the opposite direction. The route will be undulating with many flat stretches and a few inclines, although no Everests to climb. Mostly sound paths but there will be places that may be muddy if we get heavy rain in the days prior to the walk, There are just two stiles en route, both in good condition. There are toilets at the start and end of the walk and at our lunch stop by the side of the Waterton Park Hotel/Walton Hall lake, plus other spots along the way provided by Mother Nature for those brave enough to bare their nether regions to the elements. At the end of the walk we can enjoy hot drinks at the Anglers Country Park centre, or walk/drive 600m to the Anglers Retreat country pub. Dogs are welcome, but will need to be on leads on the road sections and near livestock. We can't guarantee the finish time. The meetup system means we have to put a finish time on the event but it depends on the pace of the group on the day. Don't worry about Unpaid by your name, we don't use that system. £1 on the day please.
