Let’s talk mental health—openly and without stigma. Join our Igbo community conversation for men and women to learn, connect and get support
Ndewo nu ndi oma! 👋🏾
Mental health affects every family and every community, yet it can sometimes be difficult to talk about. Cultural expectations, stigma, family pressures, work, relationships, migration experiences and simply trying to “stay strong” can mean that people struggle quietly or delay seeking support.
Afrikindness invites members of the Igbo Union community to a safe, culturally sensitive Mental Health Awareness Session designed to help us talk openly, challenge myths, recognise when we or someone we love may need support, and understand where help is available.
For Men – Beyond “I’m Fine”
A dedicated conversation exploring the pressures men carry, expectations to remain strong and provide for others, stress, relationships, fatherhood, isolation and the barriers that can prevent men from talking about their mental health or seeking help.
For Women – Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others
A supportive conversation exploring emotional wellbeing, family and caregiving pressures, relationships, motherhood, stress, identity and the importance of recognising our own mental health needs while supporting those around us.
This is not just a presentation—it is an opportunity to talk, ask questions, share experiences and learn together. We will explore practical ways to support ourselves and our families, challenge stigma and myths, recognise early signs of mental health difficulties, and understand how and where to access support.
Come as you are. Ask the questions we sometimes find difficult to ask. Let’s make mental health a conversation our community can have openly.
