Interactive talk on glass from pre-modern times to the present day, with egyptologist Dr Campbell Price and artist John Carney.

Egyptologist Dr Campbell Price and artist John Carney will give an interactive talk on attitudes towards glass from pre-modern times to the present day. Ranging from ancient insights into the sacred and metaphysical value of materials, through to ‘The Glass Delusion’ experienced during the early-modern period and then the eventual emergence of industrialised glass production, the talk will feature discussions of magic, alchemy and industry.

Audience members will be welcomed to ask questions and share their own knowledge, research and memories of glass in St Helens, including sharing their own memorabilia alongside the artists' small hobbyist collections, during an interactive discussion session.

The event will be live illustrated, to record the discussion for future research.

The discussion will be followed by an artist tour of the exhibition.
