Guided walk to the World's Only Rail Transporter, who worked on it, what was it for and what is its future? Meet in KFC on Liverpool road, warm and dry. Leisurely guided walk of approx 1 mile, stopping at points of interest, to bridge and back. Your guide is happy to answer questions and record your memories if you worked at Crosfields. Suitable for most ages with reasonable mobility. Dogs on leads included. Children from 5 upwards but must be with an adult as the walk goes through a working factory and over a level crossing, an interesting route involving a railway line , two signal boxes, a chemical works and the River Mersey. Your experienced guide from the Friends of Warrington Transporter Bridge will tell you its history, how it works and what we know about people who worked on it. This event was supported by leading family history website, Findmypast, who provided access to their records as part of their sponsorship of ‘Everyday Histories’, the festival theme.
