Join us for "Make Hay While the Sun Shines," a ticketed event, as Sarah Gordon Butler's Hay Rake Ballet merges with a Wisconsin hay harvest!

Join us Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 (rain date Sept. 26) as Sauk County farmland emerges as the stage for Make Hay While the Sun Shines, an agri/cultural production featuring the world premiere of Hay Rake Ballet, and an opening performance by Wild Space Dance Company. Tickets are required.

Rooted in the fertile space between culture and agriculture, this one-time event, where choreographed farm machinery, harvest rhythms, and live music converge, invites audiences to celebrate the harvest and our enduring connections to the land. Hay Rake Ballet frames everyday farming practices within a classical dance aesthetic, and pays homage to the inherent craft and significance of family farm-scale agricultural practices. It represents a rare fusion of contemporary art and lived rural experience, offering a window into the culture embedded in agriculture and space for inspiration, creative exploration, and pride of place.

The specific farm location in southern Sauk County will be shared with ticket holders the week of the event.

We can only "Make Hay While the Sun Shines." If weather or field conditions prevent the performance from taking place Saturday, Sept. 12, ticket holders will be notified via email and text earlier that week, with confirmation of the rain date, Saturday, Sept. 26.

A portion of all ticket and merchandise sales will be donated to the Farmer Angel Network, a Sauk County, Wis. nonprofit dedicated to supporting mental health and farmer wellbeing across Wisconsin.
