Doors at 7, show at 7.30 - The Swaps and Friends are joined by Jinda Biant.
It's the second Wednesday of March. This time The Swaps are joined by some of their dear musical pals (if they can be bothered to turn up) and Jinda Biant, who is great (see below). The usual mix of wonderful music, serendipitous magic and mess. Do join us.
Jinda Biant is a singer-songwriter unlike any other. His earliest years were spent buried in his father's record collection: Elvis Presley, Lead Belly, Robert Johnson. That depth of influence still runs through everything he makes today.
But even before the blues found him, Jinda's first steps in music were rooted in Indian classical tradition: the sitar of Ravi Shankar, the towering vocals of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. By the age of ten, he was already performing tabla at venues across Britain, a rare grounding for a young musician, and one that shaped his ear long before he ever picked up a guitar.
These days, though, you're far more likely to find him with his amp cranked and his bottleneck slide howling. He picked up the guitar in his early teens, an unusual path for someone with his musical heritage, but he walked it with real humility, studying the greats who came before him rather than trying to shortcut his way there.
That humility eventually took him on a genuine pilgrimage: a journey through the American South, from Detroit to Nashville and down into the Mississippi Delta, sitting with local blues musicians, listening, and learning firsthand. His new album, Love on the Line (2026), is the fullest expression yet of everything he absorbed on that journey, and it's well worth your time.
Two albums in, and Jinda is only just getting started. His debut, Restless, earned airtime on BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens Show. Since then he's toured the world, studied under the musicians who first inspired him, and now arrives at Love on the Line, his most personal work to date.
This is an artist still walking in the footsteps of the greats who shaped him, but increasingly leaving footprints of his own. Don't miss the chance to witness it live.
"Jinda is a young man with a lot of talent, with individual ideas about his music and not just a copyist like so many others, a very good listen." — Blues Matters Magazine, 2019
"The emblematic poster boy of new music." — Bobby Friction, BBC Asian Network
