A few words from Weston Hospicecare -
What we do: Since Weston Hospicecare was established in 1989, we have been providing free care to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families throughout the local communities in our area. From Clevedon to Highbridge, Cheddar to Weston-super-Mare and everything in between, we cover a large area in Somerset and North Somerset, offering a range of services. Our multi-disciplined team deliver treatment to not only patients with cancer, but to those with any life-limiting illness, such as Parkinson’s Disease and Motor Neurone Disease.
About our financial situation: This year it is expected to cost £6.9 million to run Weston Hospicecare, with less than 20% of their overall income being provided by the government. Their team work hard to fundraise the remaining 80%, to continue providing vital palliative and end-of-life care, across areas of Somerset and North Somerset. Despite the major cost saving efforts they have already made and continue to make, the funding gap continues to grow.
To put that into perspective:
It costs us £3,676 a day to run the In-Patient Unit, but we are only raising £3,272.
It costs £576 for a community nurse to support one patient, but we are only raising £513.
Don’t miss out on another fantastic opportunity to network for a great cause - last time was a huge success, and we can’t wait to see you there!
