About This Event

Nathaniel J Hall leads a WERK LGBTQ+ artist development mini-programme at The Old Courts in Wigan on 28 October 2026. The event is free to attend.

A new WERK LGBTQ+ Artist Development mini-programme with award-winning storyteller, producer and activist Nathaniel J Hall

WERK is our artist network for LGBTQ+ creatives, a space to connect, share ideas, develop your practice and help shape what support for LGBTQ+ artists looks like locally.

This autumn, we’re bringing you a new WERK Artist Development mini-programme with award-winning storyteller, producer and activist Nathaniel J Hall.

Designed for artists and creatives who want to develop their practice, build confidence and think more sustainably about their creative careers, the programme will explore how we talk about our work, how we value it, and where we want to go next.

Session 1 – Elevator Pitch

How well can you talk about your creative practice or project on the spot? If you stepped into an elevator and your dream project partner or investor was in there with you, would you be ready to pitch them your work and why they should care about it?

In this session, we’ll dig down into what drives us to make art, who inspires us, who it’s for and why we do it. By the end of the session, we’ll be well on the way to having a clear (or renewed) artistic vision, mission and objectives, and a pitch for our creative practice or next creative project.

The sessions will be led by Nathaniel J Hall, who brings 15 years of experience as an LGBTQ+ artist, producer and creative practitioner. Formerly Artistic Director of Dibby Theatre and now running Nathaniel J Hall & Friends, Nathaniel has raised more than £700k for creative work, toured nationally and developed theatre, documentary and community storytelling projects.

Whether you’re trying to make your next project happen, work out how to earn more money from your creativity, or simply want to meet other LGBTQ+ artists and have a say in what WERK does next, book your place and tell your friends.

Come develop your practice and help us develop WERK.
