About The Children

The Children at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is Lucy Kirkwood’s darkly funny drama, set after a catastrophe on the edge of a radiation exclusion zone. Hazel and Robin are trying to maintain normality, until their old friend Rose arrives with buried secrets and a proposition that forces them to face their debt to the next generation.

This 10th anniversary production is directed by Artistic Director Rachel O’Riordan and stars Olivier Award-nominated Meera Syal as Hazel. The play combines domestic detail with post-crash uncertainty, placing its characters in a tense situation shaped by memory, loyalty and responsibility.
