A live reading of early extracts from Life Beyond The Haraam, shared to see how the memoir resonates with new listeners.

I’m a British Muslim writer and award‑winning activist, known for early reality‑TV work and later media advocacy for LGBT+ equality. Life Beyond The Haraam is a memoir about childhood, family expectations, and growing up gay in a cultural environment shaped by rules and silence. This reading shares early extracts to show how the work lands with listeners, and invites attendees to have a conversation about themes and issues in the story.
