Looking for an exciting way to keep your child active, challenged and outdoors during the school holidays? Our Summer Holiday MTB Coaching Sessions run throughout the summer at Sandwell Valley.
Designed for riders of all abilities, The summer skills sessions provides a clear pathway from a youngster's very first off-road experience through to confidence trail riding. Whether your child is taking their first steps into mountain biking or already confidently riding trails, we have a session designed specifically for them.
Our experienced coaches focus on building confidence, developing skills and ensuring every rider has fun whilst learning in a safe and supportive environment.
Why Mountain Biking is Great for Children
Mountain biking offers so much more than just riding a bike. It helps children develop balance, coordination, fitness and resilience whilst encouraging independence and confidence. Spending time outdoors has also been shown to improve wellbeing, reduce stress and provide a healthy break from screens and technology.
Our sessions combine physical activity, adventure, problem-solving and social interaction, helping young riders make new friends whilst developing skills that transfer both on and off the bike.
**🟢 Green Skills session 11AM FOR 1 HOUR
The Green sessions provide the perfect introduction to mountain biking.
Designed for younger or less experienced riders who can already ride independently, these sessions focus on:
- Braking control
- Slow-speed balance
- Cornering fundamentals
- Standing position
- Basic trail awareness
- Confidence building
The emphasis is on fun, games and developing the fundamental skills needed for off-road riding.
Green sessions are the perfect first step before progressing into our Blue sessions. **Suggested age 6+.*
🔵 Blue - Skills session. 1PM FOR 1 HOUR
Our Blue sessions are aimed at riders who are confident riding off-road and ready to develop their trail riding skills further.
During Blue sessions riders will:
- Improve body position and balance
- Learn cornering techniques
- Develop climbing and descending skills
- Ride pump tracks and skills areas
- Learn line choice and trail awareness
- Build confidence on flowing blue-grade trails
Blue riders begin to apply their skills in real trail environments whilst continuing to develop strong fundamental techniques.
