Traditional Hedgelaying Workshop

At this one-day introductory workshop you'll learn the traditional craft of restoring a healthy hedgerow through hedgelaying in the regional Midlands style.

Taught by Laura, from Laura's Woodcraft, a professional hedgelayer and coppicer based in Malvern. Laura will guide you through the process of preparing a hedgerow for laying, pleaching and building stems into stakes, and finally finishing off the hedge with hazel binders. We'll talk ecology, tools and hedgerow history. No experience needed—just a willingness to get a bit muddy!

“Laura is an inspired and inspiring enthusiast. She guided us all to make something beautiful from a raggedy piece of unkempt hedge. As well as the craftsmanship she provided us with high quality sharp tools and PPE, plus a safety briefing. A really enjoyable and enlightening event.”

This workshop has limited spaces so early booking is encouraged.

All tools and PPE will be provided, but you are welcome to bring along any personal kit you'd like to use.
