What if there was a place where you could walk in on your own, grab a drink, join a table and spend an evening talking about life, the universe and, frankly, anything?

Welcome to the Raise Your Glass Social Club.

We're a growing community of curious, friendly people who enjoy great conversation, interesting ideas and meeting new people.

We meet in York on the fourth Thursday of every month.

No networking. No lectures. No awkward icebreakers.

Just relaxed conversation with welcoming people over your favourite drink.

Our first gathering proved something wonderfully simple: put a few interesting people around a table, give them something to talk about and the conversation takes care of itself.

So we're doing it again.

Whether you're new to York, looking to expand your social circle, or simply fancy an evening that's a little different from the usual night out, we'd love you to join us.

What to Expect

The Social Club is deliberately simple.

Turn up, grab a drink and join us around the table.

We'll have a few Conversation Starters up our sleeves to get things going, but there's no agenda and certainly no requirement to stick to them.

The conversation might wander through travel, food, relationships, work, music, books, ridiculous ideas, life's big questions or something none of us expected to be talking about.

That's rather the point.

You'll meet new people, hear different perspectives, share a few stories and, hopefully, leave knowing some people you didn't know when you arrived.

And the conversation doesn't have to end when the evening does. We have a Social Club WhatsApp group where members can keep in touch, continue conversations and arrange their own get-togethers between our monthly gatherings.

Your Ticket

Tickets are £10 per person.

But we're not making money from the Social Club.

Every penny from ticket sales goes into the bar kitty.

It's our way of supporting the brilliant local venues that give our community somewhere to meet while making sure your ticket goes straight back into the evening.

Once the kitty is gone, simply buy any additional drinks from the bar as normal.

Who Is It For?

Anyone aged 18+ who enjoys good company and meeting interesting people.

Come on your own.

In fact, we'd particularly encourage it.

The whole point of the Social Club is that you shouldn't need to already know somebody in the room.

Of course, you're equally welcome to bring a friend.

There's also absolutely no expectation to drink alcohol. Beer, wine, cocktails, alcohol-free drinks, soft drinks, coffee or something else entirely...

The conversation matters far more than what's in your glass.

What Happens on the Night?

We'll be there from 7pm.

Arrive, grab a drink and we'll introduce you to some people.

From there, the evening is intentionally relaxed.

We'll occasionally throw a Conversation Starter onto the table, move things around if it helps people meet someone new and generally make sure everybody feels part of things.

There's no forced participation, assigned seating or awkward introductions in front of the room.

Just come along and be yourself.

Why Raise Your Glass Social Club?

Life gets busy.

Many of us work remotely.

People move to new places.

Friendship groups change.

And making new friends as an adult isn't always as easy as it once was.

Yet sometimes all it takes is someone to create the opportunity.

That's what the Social Club is for.

One evening. One community. One conversation at a time.

More Than One Night a Month

We're building something that goes beyond a monthly event.

Social Club members can stay connected between gatherings through our WhatsApp community, make plans, continue conversations and simply ask:

"Anyone fancy a drink?"

Our ambition is to create a community where there's always someone interesting to meet, something to talk about and a welcoming table to join.

We're starting here in York, with ambitions to help communities in other towns and cities do the same.

But for now, we're concentrating on building something rather lovely here.
