About This Event

Good conversation. Great company. One Thursday a month. Come on your own. Leave knowing people. November evenings can feel a little long, especially when you'd quite like to go out but don't have anyone to go with. Perhaps you're new to York and haven't found your people yet. Perhaps your friendship group has changed, you work from home, or you simply fancy meeting some new faces. Whatever your reason, there's a seat waiting for you at the Raise Your Glass Social Club. We meet on the fourth Thursday of every month in York, bringing friendly, curious people together for an evening of relaxed conversation over their favourite drinks. No networking. No lectures. No awkward icebreakers. Just good company and conversations about life, the universe and, frankly, anything. And you don't need to bring anyone with you. That's rather the point. What to Expect It's wonderfully simple. Turn up, grab a drink and join us around the table. We'll introduce you to people, help get conversations started and make sure everyone feels welcome. You might find yourself talking about music, travel, food, films, books, what's happening in York, something you've recently discovered or one of life's great unanswered questions. We've got a few Conversation Starters up our sleeves, but the best conversations tend to find their own way. There's no agenda, no pressure to speak and certainly no need to impress anyone. Just come along and be yourself. More Than Just a Monthly Gathering One of the loveliest things about our Social Club is what happens between the events. Our members have started building a little community of their own, keeping in touch through WhatsApp, sharing music, recommending drinks and local events, and getting to know each other beyond our monthly evenings. That's exactly what we hoped would happen. We're not simply organising another night out. We're creating a welcoming place where people can make new friends, discover shared interests and build connections that last beyond the evening. And there's always room for someone new. Coming on Your Own? Please do! We know that walking into a bar full of people you don't know can feel a little daunting. That's why we'll be there to welcome you, introduce you to others and help you settle in. You won't be expected to walk up to strangers and start conversations on your own. And you certainly won't be the only person arriving solo. Whether you're naturally outgoing or a little quieter, you're equally welcome. Come on your own. We'll take it from there. Your Ticket Tickets are £10 per person, and every penny goes into the evening's bar kitty. Raise Your Glass doesn't make money from Social Club tickets. The money supports our host venue and provides a shared kitty for the evening's drinks. Once the kitty is gone, you can purchase additional drinks from the bar as normal. And despite our name, there's absolutely no expectation to drink alcohol. Wine, beer, cocktails, alcohol-free drinks, soft drinks or a coffee. Whatever you fancy. It's the company that matters, not what's in your glass. Who Is It For? Anyone aged 18+ who enjoys good company or would simply like to meet some new people. You might have lived in York all your life or arrived last week. You might be single, living alone, working remotely, rebuilding your social circle or just looking for something different to do on a Thursday evening. You don't need to share a particular interest or have an interesting story prepared. A little curiosity and a willingness to say hello are more than enough.
